Who is eligible for registration in MSME?

Any business entity that qualifies as a micro, small, or medium enterprise can register under the MSME scheme. The eligibility criteria for MSME Registration online in Delhi  vary depending on the type of business entity and its investment in plant and machinery or equipment.

Here are the eligibility criteria for each category of business entity:

Micro Enterprise: A micro enterprise is defined as a business entity that has an investment of up to Rs. 1 crore in plant and machinery or equipment. For service-based industries, the investment limit is up to Rs. 10 lakhs.

Small Enterprise: A small enterprise is defined as a business entity that has an investment of up to Rs. 10 crore in plant and machinery or equipment. For service-based industries, the investment limit is up to Rs. 2 crores.

Medium Enterprise: A medium enterprise is defined as a business entity that has an investment of up to Rs. 50 crore in plant and machinery or equipment. For service-based industries, the investment limit is up to Rs. 5 crores.

It is important to note that the investment in plant and machinery or equipment does not include the cost of land, building, or other items not directly related to the production process. Additionally, businesses must ensure that they meet the criteria for classification as per the MSMED Act 2006.

Apart from the investment limit, businesses must also fulfill the following eligibility criteria to register under the MSME scheme:

The business must be registered in India and operate in the manufacturing or service sector.

The business must not be a subsidiary, branch or franchise of another company.

The business must not be engaged in any prohibited activities, such as tobacco, betting or gambling.

The business must not be in default of any loans or government dues.

If a business fulfills the eligibility criteria for registration under the MSME scheme, it can register online through the Udyam Registration Portal and receive a unique Udyam Registration Number (URN) and certificate. This can provide several benefits, including access to various government schemes and subsidies, priority in government procurement, and easier access to credit and finance.
